The problem LaunchPad Web3 solves
Problem:
Web3 is notoriously difficult to understand and navigate, especially for newcomers. Even in 2024, the situation remains the same, with Web3 still complex and its content fragmented. Newcomers often have to rely on web searches, X threads, Discord announcements, email newsletters, and podcasts to learn and keep up. More than ever, experienced users find their attention strained, limiting their time, while their knowledge often remains confined to the tokens they hold, the NFTs they own, and the blockchains they onboarded with. Both groups (newcomers and experienced users) lack user-friendly resources that are clear, concise, and curated. Web3 needs a platform that harmonizes cross-platform information, connects communities and blockchains, and streamlines the learning and onboarding process.
Solution:
Our insights and education platform addresses this problem by featuring a broad range of content products to accommodate different learning styles, including briefs, one-pagers, cheat sheets, how-to videos, and scorecards; it accelerates Web3 adoption and growth, serving as a welcoming 'launchpad' for newcomers to start their Web3 journey. Experienced users can save valuable time, form cross-chain connections, and diversify their knowledge across projects, applications, and blockchains.
Challenges I ran into
Challenge:
How can we make learning and staying up-to-date with Web3 fun and approachable?
Solution:
Introduce a spy-themed brand called The Informants as the aesthetic and lore-driven layer of LaunchPad Web3. Position The Informants as 'a network of spies with access to the CIA of Web3 archives.' By integrating The Informants brand narrative, our platform instantly becomes more interesting and relatable to a broader audience.
Taking it one step further, we've added a functional layer by using an NFT (ERC-721) to token-gate access to the platform. In addition to exclusive access to insights, the NFT offers:
- Unique 1/1 spy artwork with traits inspired by historical Web3 collection traits (e.g. scarf in Chromie Squiggle colors), adding an extra dimension to learning
- Gamified missions (i.e. learning modules) comprised of Web3 educational puzzles and assignments. Expect loyalty rewards tied to accomplishments
- Community of like-minded, Web3 enthusiasts
In summary, The Informants is a cultural force, elevating engagement and bringing Web3 insights and education to life. They are the first choice for Web3 newcomers and experienced users alike. The Informants is the NFT for Web3 discovery.
Design Decisions:
Our goal with LaunchPad Web3 is to develop a creative and innovative project that enables both newcomers and experienced users to create, discover, learn, and collect. To accomplish this, I am leveraging a decade of experience centered around UI/UX design and translating data into actionable insights and digestible learning materials, gained from working at major global brands like Amazon. This experience has positioned me to make informed decisions and create a user-centric platform.
Based on this, the platform itself is closed source. However, the content is scalable and structured so that passionate users can follow guidelines to produce content using our frameworks. In this way, we feel the project has both closed and open-source components.
