The problem Kotaru solves

Conventional note taking apps like Google Keep and Evernote involves a lot of friction in writing. I wanted something snappy to take quick notes and synchronize them with convenience. Unfortunately, apps like Notion and Roam Research are so complicated and have a huge learning curve.
Kotaru let's users take notes quickly and put them together under topics. The notes can be browsed in multiple ways and can be referenced for future writings. Users can make their pages public without leaving the workspace.
It is gamified, users feel like writing more everyday!

Challenges I ran into

• The editing experience must be soothing and fast, for that I had to abstract the markdown content.
• Making the public pages to load faster, I used Next.js SSG to bundle a static site out of that data.
