The problem KKAEBI solves
Executive summary
KKAEBI is the most effective onboarding solution for realizing Base's core mission: "Bringing everyone, everywhere, onchain.". Through gamification and K-Culture-based storytelling, it helps all people (everyone), regardless of their crypto experience, easily and enjoyably start their crypto (onchain) activities from anywhere (everywhere), both online and offline. KKAEBI goes beyond a simple MissionToEarn miniapp and will become an entry point that drives sustainable growth of the Base ecosystem.
Rather than being just another one-time event app, we aim to present a new paradigm that perfectly connects the practical value of Web2 with the infinite possibilities of Web3 AI. By exploring Base projects online to increase participation in the Base ecosystem, and naturally extending this to offline experiences, we'll provide opportunities to broaden the true utilization of the Base ecosystem.
Problem & Solution
Problem: The barriers to realizing Base's vision of "Bringing everyone, everywhere, onchain" are as follows, and these are challenges that must be solved together from an ecosystem-wide perspective, not individual project issues.
-
Preventing the realization of 'everyone'
Complex crypto terminology, difficult-to-understand usage, and fear of making mistakes act as filters preventing potential users from entering the onchain world. If Base can't overcome these barriers, the goal of "everyone" may remain just a slogan. -
Fragmented onchain experience
Even users who already enter onchain can easily get lost at any time. Numerous projects within the Base ecosystem exist just like isolated islands, preventing users from having integrated experiences and causing them to easily drop out. This creates a ghost town experience rather than a vibrant onchain world, preventing user returns. -
Lack of sustained engagement motivation
Without clear fun and rewards, wallet usage and transaction generation might remain one-time experiences. If Base can't drive the continuous user activity needed to activate the Base network and build an onchain economy, it will remain just another wallet app among many installed ones.
Solution: KKAEBI is a story-based gamification solution designed to break down above three barriers and help realize Base's vision.
-
A playground welcoming 'Everyone'
Kkaebi doesn't teach users. It lets users enjoy themselves. By having fun interaction with Kkaebi and completing missions, users naturally understand and experience Base ecosystem projects while learning core wallet functions, just like following a tutorial in a game. The first Base ecosystem experience that transforms fear into joy and complexity into achievement provides the most ideal onboarding for everyone. -
Connecting fragmented experiences into one journey
It connects fragmented projects in the Base ecosystem into one interesting worldview. Rather than users having to hardly discover individual dApps, they naturally encounter them through narratives. This naturally circulates users through multiple projects, making the entire Base ecosystem a vibrant onchain world. -
Continuous habituation, not one-time usage
Interesting stories, clear rewards, and moderate competitiveness (leaderboard season system) make users consistently return to the app and perform missions. It becomes a mechanism that transforms one-time transactions into continuous onchain activities to become "the best Tteok collector.". This is key to maximizing Base network activity and creating habits for users to stay in the Base ecosystem.
Challenges we ran into
-
Technical Integration & SDK Conflicts
Getting the Base Mini App live wasn’t straightforward. I faced multiple issues with Vercel deployment errors (Missing ‘./minikit’), React hook violations, and Farcaster SDK conflicts. Many features like account association, API wiring, and provider hierarchies required trial-and-error debugging before they worked reliably. -
Multi-System Coordination
Coordinating between CoinGecko APIs, Base RPC calls, and token balance tracking was harder than expected. Rate limits, sequencing logic, and compatibility with different environments (browser vs Base app) made the system fragile. On top of that, ensuring mobile responsiveness and consistent theming across platforms was an ongoing challenge. -
Learning Curve as a Non-Dev Founder
As someone coming from an artist background, diving into SDKs, JSON manifests, and debugging cryptic errors was tough. Testing flows weren’t obvious, and I often felt stuck without knowing who to ask. But persistence, asking other builders, and leveraging OnchainKit/MiniKit defaults helped me push through and keep moving forward.
