Kissan.Ai
AI for Every Farmer
The problem Kissan.Ai solves
Indian farmers face significant crop losses due to late detection of plant diseases, improper crop selection based on soil health, and lack of direct access to reliable buyers. Traditional disease detection methods rely on manual inspection and expert intervention, which are time-consuming and often inaccessible to small and medium farmers. Soil testing is usually costly, slow, and performed infrequently, leading to poor crop–soil compatibility decisions. Additionally, farmers struggle to sell their produce efficiently due to dependence on intermediaries and lack of real-time market demand information. These challenges directly affect farmer income, food security, and sustainable agricultural practices.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges we faced were collecting high-quality real-world crop disease data, improving model accuracy with limited datasets, and designing a very simple interface for non-technical farmers. Integrating affordable soil sensors and enabling market linkage without becoming a full marketplace were also important challenges. We addressed these by following a phased development approach, starting with an MVP and focusing on usability and trust first.
