The problem KINECT solves

Challenges of managing medication adherence and monitoring vital signs among the elderly have become deeply huge concerns. The project outlined herein addresses these critical issues by integrating advanced technologies and machine learning algorithms into a comprehensive solution tailored for the needs of elderly individuals or those with forgetfulness or difficulty in managing medications.
• One of the primary challenges faced by the elderly is the management of multiple medications with varying dosages and schedules. Our project streamlines this process by providing a user-friendly platform where individuals can upload their prescriptions. Through sophisticated backend processing, essential information such as medication names and frequencies are extracted and stored for easy access. This automated system eliminates the burden of manual tracking, ensuring that medications are taken on time and in the correct doses.
• Furthermore, our project goes beyond medication management by incorporating features to monitor vital signs and overall health metrics. By integrating with Google Fit APIs, users can seamlessly track parameters such as heart rate, weight, oxygen levels, temperature, steps, and calories burned. This real-time monitoring provides valuable insights into the user's health status, enabling timely intervention if any abnormalities are detected. Additionally, our ML algorithm will track heart rate patterns and alerts caregivers to any significant deviations, enhancing early detection of potential health issues.
• Moreover, our project prioritizes user safety and connectivity by incorporating features such as emergency contact alerts. In the event of missed medications or health emergencies, users can quickly notify their designated contacts for assistance, fostering a sense of security and support within their community.

Challenges we ran into

While developing our project, we faced the following issues:

• Lack of Clicinal Data: One of the primary challenges we encountered during the development of our project was the lack of sufficient data about medicines. Building a robust health management system relies heavily on access to comprehensive and high-quality medicinal datasets. However, sourcing and curating such data, especially concerning the medications proved to be a significant hurdle. Addressing this challenge required extensive collaboration with healthcare providers, institutions, and research organizations to collect and aggregate relevant data.
• Lack of Hardware Resources and Expenses: Another obstacle we faced was the scarcity of hardware resources and the associated expenses. Developing a sophisticated health management system requires robust infrastructure capable of handling large volumes of data processing and storage. However, acquiring and maintaining the necessary hardware resources, such as servers, storage devices, and computing infrastructure, incurred significant expenses. Balancing the need for computational power and storage capacity with budgetary constraints presented a challenge in optimizing resource allocation and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, ensuring scalability and flexibility to accommodate future growth and demand further added to the complexity.
• Time factor and Google Fit API review Process: Time constraints posed additional challenges throughout the development process. Integrating with external APIs, such as the Google Fit API for vital sign monitoring, required adherence to strict review processes and timelines. The substantial time taken, typically around 4-5 weeks.
