KiddieParty

A comprehensive one stop app, for fresher students joining a college. Provides information and helps you choose your extra-curricular activities, well before the college session even starts.

The problem KiddieParty solves

This App aims to solve the problems freshers face every year: Confusion. Every year, after admissions, fresherman students are confused and prone to misinformation and are unable to get a clear image of the workings of the college. This app includes a variety of tabs/pages clearly marked in the main landing page. Some of them are =( Clubs, Transport, Info-Desk, Help-Desk, Map and a Amenities tab). All freshers have to do is download this app and make sure that they know which campus they have applied to. Our app contains a club-bot which helps the user to choose a club based on their interests and preferences and displays a list of clubs. With the transport tab, students have a direct line of communication to the drivers and their timings and routes as well. In case a student is unable to find any required information, under the Help-Desk tab, a chat bot helps in providing relevant data or asks you to visit a particular tab. Students can also obtain the email ID's and other relevant details of their stream under the Info-Desk tab, which displays HoD name, email and block number as well.

Students can use this simple and easy to understand app, and be prepared on the first day of college.

Challenges we ran into

Being freshers, Our knowledge of GitHub was very limited. Firstly, Commiting our files to the repo individually was easy but combining those files together to make our final file was a daunting task. To finish the file we all hopped onto a single stream call on discord and spoke our way through the addition of code! Secondly, we weren't able to scrape a whole lot of data regarding certain topics, but we ensured to do as much as we could, we added our pre-existing knowledge of our college experience as well.

We found the addition of an interactive Google Maps API onto our tkinter app a little too difficult and hence to try and solve this problem, we came up with a link that redirects you to a static webpage with the interactive google maps api.

P.S: We're very sorry for the video quality.
