The problem Kho Gaye Hum Kahan solves

Lots of people lose their valuable belongings at stations, bus stops, and at various places in the city. When we find hold of such lost items, we are clueless as to what steps should be taken to help to deliver the lost item to the right person.

Our application solves this problem effectively, and this is not specific to any region or location.

Here's how it works:

Reporter: Once a lost item is found, the reporter can put up the Information of the article on our app using the form on found section. Here, it includes basic information like name, category, image, description, location, date and time of loss, and verification information that can be user to verify the ownership of the article.

Victim of loss: The person can head over to the lost section and share the basic information regarding the lost article and an older image of the same. Our platform will look into the database.
Case 1: It will show all the matching entries with limited information. The victim can then submit claims for the article he thinks is his. For each claim, our application shall ask for the verification information as entered against each article by the reporter. Further, if the information matches, all these details are sent to corresponding reporter who can then cross verify the information and get the contact details of the victim of loss if it matches. Hence, we are bringing both automatic verification to reduce human intervention and manual verification to achieve accuracy.
Case 2: If no results are found, the claim is stored in database, but the victim is still supported by us. For each article that is reported, we look for a match and if a match is found, the user is notified regarding the same and the claim process continues.

Okay, but this still looks very traditional. What is so unique about our approach?

  1. Our platform is universal. All the existing systems are limited to a region.
  2. Reward System: The victim can specify a reward for the reporter.

Challenges we ran into

The development logic was not as easy as we thought initially. It took a lot of thoughts to figure out how to make it foolproof and how to get people motivated to report items.
