The problem Karigar Pro solves

Home Services is a $60B market in India, growing at 10–11% every year. Yet 97% of it is still unorganised. Contractors like painters, waterproofing experts, electricians still run their businesses on WhatsApp, calls, and pen-paper while the rest of India has already moved to digital.

This creates everyday chaos:

  1. Leads get missed and jobs forgotten
  2. Estimates are delayed or just sent as WhatsApp texts
  3. Payments are unclear, leading to mistrust
  4. Big CRMs like Zoho are too complex and expensive. Dukaan and others are designed for retail SMEs. There is nothing focussed on India’s unorganised home service providers.
  5. Others like Urban Company own the end to end customer relationship

KarigarPro solves this gap by giving contractors a lightweight CRM, a simple mobile app to manage their leads, estimates, orders, and payments. It helps them work more professionally, earn more consistently, and most importantly, brings dignity to their craft.

Challenges I ran into

The first challenge was balancing simplicity while developing the app.
Contractors are not tech-heavy users, so I had to keep the app extremely intuitive — large buttons, bilingual (English + Hindi), and WhatsApp-first workflows.

As a non techie and new to product, another major roadblock challenge was development and authentication. Lovable with Supabase was constantly failing even after multiple attempts. Auth was tricky to configure, especially handling OTP-based login and mock OTP for demo. This made me switch the project midway from Lovable to Cursor where I finally got it working cleanly.

Design was also a hurdle as I am not a designer by background. Using AI tools like V0, Nanobanana, and ChatGPT helped me experiment with colors, fonts, and layouts until the app started to look consumer-grade.

What helped me push through was a product-led approach by speaking to users, understanding their pain points, and then quickly prototyping with AI tools. Each hurdle forced me to simplify the product further. The end result is an app that looks polished, feels intuitive, and actually solves the core problem.
