The problem Kanjo solves

People are only a click away from obtaining vast amounts of data. With information comes people's opinions, and with that comes people's positive and negative perspectives on a subject. This can lead to bullying and the spread of hateful remarks about someone or something. Therefore, Kanjo is an attempt to help our cops to maintain safe cyberspace across various social media platforms starting with Twitter. This script can tell you the sentiments of people regarding any events happening in the world by analyzing 1000s of tweets related to that event. It will search for tweets about any topic and analyze each tweet to see how positive or negative its emotion is.

This application aims to offer a quick and easy way to analyze 1000s of tweets on a certain topic/ place or person and determine the most popular sentiment and emotion shown towards it.

This project was made in an attempt to take on the 4th challenge of researching and thinking about the algorithms that may be used to analyze sentiments and emotions of different types of topics over Twitter.

Challenges we ran into

"Errors are stepping stones to develop good applications"

During the development process I faced the following challenges:-

Kaavya & Saloni: Working with SASS and its variables for the 1st time
Saloni: Using Twitter API for the first time
Akshat: We worked with Django for the 1st time, therefore, errors came up frequently which were solved by taking help of various online communities and websites.
