Nowadays due to online classes, conversation and transference of information between students happen through WhatsApp. The problem with Whatsapp is that due to un-categorisation, information gets lost and it gets quite difficult to access announcements and resources that we actually need.
By having to check Whatsapp or Discord repeatedly in order to access important information, we end up wasting a lot of time chatting and getting distracted, so it becomes hard to focus on the work we were doing.
Our idea eliminates all distractions by focusing on a website that is solely for the purpose of a college portal that can be accessed by the students for any notices pertaining to academics, technical, and cultural events. The information on the website is categorized efficiently with a user-friendly interface in order to minimize the amount of time spent searching for resources and notices.
Students will get even the smallest of the updates which they usually do not receive through mails/ google classrooms.
Eg. polls for exam timings, reminders of cultural, technical contests and classes, updates regarding the discussion between professors and Class Representatives. A student that recognizes the portal as a means to receive all important notices, would soon get into the habit of checking it regularly.
We are beginners in Web Development and had never made so many webpages in such a short span of time before. So when we started writing the code for the home page, it took us quite some time to make it work the way we wanted it to. But once we got the hang of it, we were able to quickly and efficiently create many such webpages in way lesser time.
Another big challenge we faced was working on the backend of the website. We tried using Firebase to create a database for our website but we didn't have enough understanding of the way it worked to be able to implement it to fruition.
