The problem Jalan solves

Speeding is a major cause of road accidents globally, contributing to a significant number of fatalities and injuries each year. Despite the severity of the problem, existing methods to monitor and enforce speed limits are often inadequate, leaving large gaps where dangerous driving behaviors go unchecked. Traditional speed cameras and roadblocks can only cover specific locations, and their effectiveness is limited by the infrastructure in place. This creates a situation where many speeding incidents go unnoticed, leading to preventable accidents and loss of life.

Challenges we ran into

One of the initial challenges we faced was selecting a blockchain platform that could meet the specific needs of our application. Blockchain technology is often criticized for its scalability issues, with some networks experiencing slow transaction speeds and high fees, especially during periods of congestion. For an application like ours, which could potentially handle millions of transactions daily, these issues could severely impact user experience.

After extensive research and comparison, we decided to integrate with the Solana blockchain. Solana was chosen for its high throughput capabilities and low transaction fees, which are critical for a consumer-facing application where transactions need to be both fast and cost-effective. Solana’s architecture, which allows for parallel transaction processing, provided the scalability we needed to ensure that our application could handle a large number of users without bottlenecks or delays.
