"Helping businesses, entrepreneurs, and freelancers seamlessly create invoices on-chain."

Why are you participating for Based Africa?

In the day-to-day operations of African businesses, a common challenge that continues to surface is the difficulty of maintaining accurate and secure transaction records. This often leads to data loss, fraud, or corruption. Many businesses still rely on paper-based invoicing, which can be easily manipulated, misplaced, or lost, resulting in delays, disputes, and financial discrepancies. Such inefficiencies not only undermine trust but also create barriers to growth and innovation.
Our project is committed to addressing these issues by leveraging the power of blockchain technology to create a more secure, transparent, and efficient system for recording transactions. By moving business processes on-chain, we’re introducing a solution that ensures the immutability of records, meaning data cannot be altered or tampered with. This will help combat padding, corruption, and other forms of financial malpractice that arise from traditional transaction methods.
We’re building for Africa because we believe in the transformative potential of technology to empower businesses across the continent. Africa’s unique challenges in transparency, trust, and infrastructure demand innovative solutions, and blockchain provides a secure, decentralized, and verifiable method to record transactions. Our vision is to create a more resilient business ecosystem, where data integrity is upheld, and trust is no longer a stumbling block.
Beyond transparency, this shift will pave the way for greater inclusion of African businesses into the global economy. Blockchain can provide access to decentralized financial systems and facilitate cross-border trade without the constraints of traditional intermediaries. By onboarding more businesses on-chain, we aim to bridge the gap between local enterprises and global opportunities, fostering sustainable growth and reducing dependency on outdated systems.

What challenges are you focusing on?

The challenges we are focusing on solving with these solutions includes but not limited to :

Inaccurate and Insecure Transaction Records: Many businesses in Africa rely on methods like paper-based invoicing, which are prone to loss, manipulation, or damage. This leads to missing data, miscommunication, and financial errors.

Corruption and Fraud: Paper records and traditional transaction methods are susceptible to tampering, resulting in padded invoices, corrupt practices, and financial malpractice. This undermines the integrity of business transactions and leads to mistrust.

Lack of Transparency: Businesses struggle with ensuring transparency in their financial dealings. The lack of clear, auditable records often results in disputes, delays, and inefficiencies, hindering business growth.

Barriers to Trust: Trust is a fundamental pillar in any business ecosystem, but in Africa, many businesses suffer from a lack of trust due to poor record-keeping practices. This makes partnerships, investments, and scaling more difficult.

Limited Access to Global Markets: Many African businesses are cut off from global opportunities due to a lack of proper financial infrastructure. Traditional systems hinder cross-border trade and create unnecessary dependencies on intermediaries, making international business difficult.

Inclusion and Digital Transformation: Many businesses are slow to adopt digital solutions due to a lack of accessible, reliable technologies that address their specific needs. This delay in embracing digital transformation keeps them from leveraging the benefits of blockchain and decentralized systems for growth and efficiency.

By addressing the specific challenges of inaccurate records, lack of transparency, corruption, and trust issues, InvoisChain provides a secure, real-time, and transparent invoicing solution that transforms how businesses manage transactions.

How does your submission address this challenge?

Our submission, InvoisChain, addresses the challenges faced by businesses in Africa by leveraging the power of blockchain technology to create a decentralized invoicing system. Here’s how it tackles the core challenges:

Real-time Tracking and Record Accuracy: InvoisChain allows businesses to issue and manage invoices onChain. This ensures that every invoice is tracked in real-time, enabling both the seller and the buyer to monitor the status of transactions as they happen. This eliminates the issues of lost or delayed invoices, ensuring that all records are up-to-date and accessible.

Secured and Immutable Transaction Records: By using blockchain, every invoice and transaction is secured. This means that once an invoice is generated, it cannot be altered or tampered with. The decentralized nature of blockchain ensures data security and integrity, preventing fraud, manipulation, or the loss of critical business records.

Enhanced Transparency: InvoisChain introduces transparency into the invoicing process by providing all parties involved—sellers, buyers, and even auditors—with access to the same, unalterable records. This transparency reduces the likelihood of disputes, delays, and discrepancies, as all transactions can be verified by anyone on the network at any time.

Building Trust and Accountability: With InvoisChain, businesses can operate in an environment where trust and accountability are built into the system. The transparent and tamper-proof nature of blockchain ensures that each party has confidence in the validity of the transaction, reducing the mistrust that often arises from traditional businesses.

By addressing the specific challenges of inaccurate records, lack of transparency, corruption, and trust issues, InvoisChain provides a secure, real-time, and transparent invoicing solution that transforms how businesses manage transactions.

Challenges we ran into

Challenges We Faced
Time Constraints
Building the product within the limited duration of the hackathon was not easy. The complexity of the project required more time for development, testing, and iterations.

Solution: Fortunately, the hackathon organizers extended the submission deadline, giving us additional time to fine-tune and complete the product.

Bridging from Sepolia to BaseSepolia
We had to bridge between Sepolia and BaseSepolia test networks while building, which led to delay while building.

Solution: We had to use the bridge as they are no available faucets

Integrating Smart Contracts with the Frontend
Connecting the smart contracts to the frontend was another major hurdle. It required proper coordination between the Solidity logic and the web interface to ensure smooth interactions for the end users.

Solution: We had to settle for Wagmi instead of using Ethers.js for easy integration

Cheer Project

Cheering for a project means supporting a project you like with as little as 0.0025 ETH. Right now, you can Cheer using ETH on Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
