After 2020, Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (DAOs) have demonstrated significant potential for revolutionising cross-border human collaboration, not only on-chain but also marking an important milestone in human history. For the first time, global society possesses a truly cross-border, autonomous means of production. Organisations such as NounsDAO and BanklessDAO exemplify a transformative new mode of production that surpasses any historical precedent. However, the practical implementation has sometimes been lacking.
Therefore, understanding the economic activities of blockchain networks is essential for comprehending the future of global economic interactions. Onchainomics introduces a novel concept and emphasizes the prospects of a new mode of transnational cooperation.
To address this, Onchainomics aims to delve into past endeavours and research these shortcomings to illuminate a fresh trajectory. The dramatic increase in on-chain economic activity after 2022 signals a new trend of globalisation and suggests an imminent need for a new paradigm in both the crypto world and the real world. This new way of cooperation has already extended beyond nationalities and occupations, aligning with the evolving landscape of global economic interactions.
The proposal highlights essential literature review work and provides numerous suggestions for future Onchainomics research methodologies.
Limited prior research resources: As blockchain economics is an emerging field of study, there is a lack of comprehensive economic resources dedicated to on-chain activities and research. To address this gap, we created the /onchainomics channel on Warpcast, aiming to tackle key questions in onchainomics research. Since its inception, we have connected with experts such as @lilping and @0xluo from diverse backgrounds whose prior works from other sectors have greatly inspired us. Additionally, we have connected with the professional ETH Economics research team, Panta Rhei (formerly known as ETHconomics), for further academic sources recommendations and support.
Integrating of our works into certain tracks at Buildathon is somewhat challenging. We participated in the Base Buildathon office hours on June 6th and sought expert suggestions and support from wbnns.
