The problem Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) solves

We saw the problem of waiting in traffic lights for long periods of time can result in increased congestion, frustration for drivers, and decreased efficiency on the roads. Traffic congestion has become one of the plagues of modern life in a metropolitan city. Time spent ensnarled in traffic is simply time wasted.

Every road in India is allotted equal times ranging from 60s to 120s without considering that maybe on an intersection a particular lane is mostly busier than other lanes depending on the time of the day, thus being a student of technology we thought we must do something to solve this problem of inefficient traffic management.
We also noticed how although emergency vehicals are allowed to cross red lights they would still get stuck due to high congestion on the lanes and we also worked on the problem of safety of pedestrians and animals on the road, devloping a compleate system.

Challenges we ran into

Being a team of just 1st-year students, it was difficult for us to understand the workings of opencv and how to use dnn models, undoubtedly we spent a lot of time on stackoverflow xD, and when we saw that 1st image loading up with number of cars, it was such an amazing feeling.
We also integrated AI with hardware, which really was really challenging for us. also while using other components with Arduino we had to overcome a lot of part failures, but it was just so worth it in the end. and I am really proud of what we are able to build, and we hope to show it to you live in the pitching round.
