The project aims at reducing the queuing time in marts by eliminating the time taken for the billing of the products at mPOS as the billing is done at the same time when items are added to cart.

The problem Intelligent Queue Management System using RF & IoT solves

Currently, in the shopping malls, it may be observed that every clothing or cosmetic item contains an Electronic Article Surveillance tag or soft tag, which acts as a prevention for shop-lifting. A bar-code reader is used to scan a bar-code reader to identify the items purchased by a customer.
Mostly, customers in a departmental stores have to wait for a significantly larger amount of time for their billings which is caused due to scanning of the items in the mPOS. The main aim of the hack will be to reduce the queuing delay.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest hurdle which we faced while building the hack is to maintain integrity of the hardware devices, from scanning the RFID bands to switching on the barcode scanner and then the soft-tag disaber. Firebase Firestore's onChangeListener() acts as a saviour in maintaining this integrity.
The RFID bands are scanned with the help of RFID Module integrated with Raspberry Pi and the RF ID is updated in a Firestore document. An onChangeListener is connected with android app which reads the updated ID and helps users to login to the app and view his/her cart.
