InsuraLink

Turn Insurance Certificates from, Papers you have to store safely, to Hashes that are Stored Safely For You.

The problem InsuraLink solves

The "InsuraLink" project addresses several problems in the insurance industry:

  1. Trust Deficit: It aims to tackle the general mistrust in insurance providers caused by a lack of transparency and understanding.
  2. Opaque Policy Terms: The project seeks to clarify complex jargon and unclear terms in policy documents, making it easier for policyholders to understand their coverage.
  3. Underutilization of Technology: It addresses the industry's slow adoption of modern technologies, which hinders seamless interaction between consumers and insurance providers.

InsuraLink proposes solutions like leveraging distributed ledger technology for increased transparency, end-to-end encryption to protect private insurance data, and using AI models to help users understand and maximize their policies. The project also focuses on reducing insurance fraud, especially in health insurance, and making insurance certificates more accessible and secure through blockchain technology.

Challenges we ran into

Connecting All the Modules of Brokers to Clients and Brokers to Insurance Agents:
Establishing seamless communication between the various modules, specifically ensuring robust connections from brokers to both clients and insurance agents, posed a significant challenge. The intricacies involved in coordinating data flow and maintaining real-time interactions demanded a meticulous approach. Addressing issues related to data consistency, latency, and ensuring secure transactions required careful consideration. Integration protocols and compatibility between different modules needed thorough validation to create a unified and efficient system.

Backend Composed of Multiple Languages and Data Encryption/Certificate Generation Storage Requirements:
The project's backend, utilizing multiple programming languages, introduced complexities in terms of integration and coordination. Ensuring smooth interoperability between different language components proved to be a noteworthy challenge. Additionally, the encryption of sensitive data and the generation of certificates demanded a substantial amount of storage. To overcome this hurdle, the decision to encapsulate the backend in a Docker image was made. Deploying this image on Google Cloud Run not only provided a scalable solution but also efficiently managed the storage requirements, optimizing the balance between security, performance, and resource utilization. The intricacies of this process included configuring encryption algorithms, managing key storage, and ensuring secure certificate generation, all of which contributed to the complexity of the solution.
