Challenges we ran into
Limited Development Time: With only 36 hours to build our prototype, we had to prioritize core features. We solved this by splitting into specialized teams and using agile sprints to ensure rapid development of the MVP.
AI Model Integration: Implementing TensorFlow models within our mobile application presented compatibility issues. We overcame this by creating a lightweight model specifically designed for edge devices and optimizing it for quick inference.
Real-time Data Synchronization: Creating a seamless tracking experience across devices was challenging in the hackathon environment. We leveraged Firebase and WebSockets to establish reliable real-time communication between service providers and users.
API Rate Limits: During development, we hit rate limits with several third-party services. We implemented strategic caching and built mock services to continue development while working around these limitations.
Demo Environment Setup: Simulating a realistic repair scenario for our demo proved difficult. We created a comprehensive demo script with pre-staged "issues" and recorded videos to showcase the complete user journey despite the time constraints.
