The problem Insight solves
Insight (under the Mental Health track) is a groundbreaking application designed to provide real-time updates on individuals undergoing severe mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and more, directly to their caregivers, like therapists and family members.
Leveraging a perfect blend of cutting-edge technologies, including phone usage tracking, Android platform, and Generative AI, Insight offers a comprehensive solution for monitoring and supporting mental well-being. The app tracks phone usage data anonymously, processes it through advanced AI models like ChatGPT for context understanding, and generates insights categorizing behaviors as concerning or non-concerning. These insights are then communicated to caregivers via email, facilitating timely intervention and support.
People can use it to monitor people with serious mental health disorders remotely, this app can help for caregivers to make sure the patients are not going through concerning circumstances.
- Real-Time Monitoring: InsightCare continuously tracks phone usage patterns without identifying the individual, providing caregivers with real-time insights into the user's behavior.

- Future Scope: Insight aims to expand its capabilities by conducting detailed studies on the association between phone usage patterns and mental health disorders. It plans to incorporate additional features to understand conditions like bipolar disorder.
Challenges we ran into
We ran through multiple challenges while building the project.
- Usage tracking data is difficult to collect and ask permission for. We had to go through a lot of documentation and experimentation to get it right
- Connecting the application's backend to the server was very hard. Android development's connection to the involved experimenting with different libraries like OkHtttps and Retrofit, to find the right fit.
- While AI models like ChatGPT are powerful tools for analyzing text data, their accuracy may vary, especially when dealing with nuanced contexts such as mental health. Ensuring the AI accurately identifies concerning behaviors while minimizing false positives is crucial for the reliability of Insight. It was hard to make the app without available and reliable public studies following which we had to shift to generative AI.
