Indoor Navigation using AR

Navigate indoors like never before

The problem Indoor Navigation using AR solves

Navigating large college or school campuses can be challenging, particularly for new students, visitors, or those with limited mobility. Indoor navigation can be particularly difficult due to the complex and multi-level nature of many campus buildings. Traditional navigation methods, such as printed maps or signage, can be difficult to interpret and may not be available in all areas. As a result, individuals may waste time and energy trying to find their way, which can be frustrating and stressful. An indoor navigation app that uses AR technology can solve these problems by providing a more intuitive and personalized navigation experience. The app can use a smartphone's camera and sensors to overlay information on the user's real-world view, including directions, location markers, and points of interest. The app can also adapt to the user's needs and preferences, such as providing accessible routes or highlighting areas of interest. Overall, an indoor navigation app using AR technology can enhance the campus experience for all users, improving accessibility, efficiency, and convenience.

Challenges we ran into

We first started by developing react native app, in which we used viro-react, but it was outdated, the last update was in 2021, and environment setup was also big issue, we used expo for react native, but ar API were not working, we then tried to eject the app in react native, but after also that, gradle config was making issue, and in last it the app was not working on cross-platform working, we shifted to web app, and developed the app, then rendering the marker on the correct position was another challenge we ran into, and showing the arrow was lot of pain, distance calculation using lat and long was also one challenge, we used harvaninan formula to calculate the distance between the lat and long, transforming that into code was one challenge, with the help of our mentor we solved major challanges
