The problem Incident Response System using LoRa solves

This project reviews a technique that helps to establish a reliable communication system in the affected area by using a Wi-Fi mesh network and LoRa for long-distance communication. By using these bits of information provided by the affected people, the first responders can identify people or a group of people with great accuracy using location-based services like real-time map data. With the help of proper coordinates, they can conduct rescue operations and provide necessary aid which can save many lives. These devices do not require any configuration after releasing them to disaster-prone areas. All of the connection credentials are configured at the time of installing the firmware. After deploying, these devices automatically connect to the main node to form a mesh network.

The range of these devices is nearly unlimited since new devices can extend the range of communication exponentially. The Lora receiver receives data that is provided by the user and uploads it to the cloud instantly. The data is pulled from the cloud to make further analysis and to visualize the data in a useful manner which helps the first responders to take necessary actions.

These devices can be manufactured cost-effectively and can be rapidly deployed in the affected areas

Challenges we ran into

Initially, we were finding difficulty in finding the Google API for maps, which we eventually solved by using Mapbox
