Seamless, Secure, and Private: Insurance Claims with Zero-Knowledge Proofs

The problem IdenZK solves

In traditional insurance claim processing, users are required to share sensitive personal and medical data with multiple parties, which compromises privacy and increases the risk of data misuse or breaches. The centralized nature of these systems exposes data to potential cyberattacks, fraud, and unauthorized access, undermining trust between stakeholders. Furthermore, the reliance on intermediaries and manual verification processes leads to inefficiencies, delays, and errors in the claim verification process, resulting in longer claim resolution times and higher operational costs.

Our Solution
The Automated Insurance Claim System provides a decentralized, privacy-preserving, and efficient alternative. Key features include:
Privacy-Preserving Verification: zk-SNARKs ensure eligibility verification without exposing sensitive data.
Decentralized Identity Management: Privado enables secure Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) for private user authentication.
Automated Claim Distribution: Lit Protocol automates claim payouts directly to user wallets, eliminating delays.
Scalable Execution: Polygon zkEVM ensures efficient and decentralized proof verification.
Secure Data Storage: Akave protects sensitive data while ensuring authorized access.
This solution enhances trust, reduces costs, and accelerates claim resolution while safeguarding user privacy and data security.

Challenges we ran into

Lit Integration Issues: Integrating withLIT didn’t go as smoothly as we hoped. We ran into problems with incomplete session signatures and session initialization errors. After ensuring proper session management and double-checking validation, we were able to resolve these challenges.
ZKP Logic Integration: Translating real-world insurance claim processes into ZKP logic was a bit tricky. We had to work through several edge cases to ensure everything was functioning as expected. It took a lot of trial and error, but we managed to work through it.
Identity Verification Decision: Choosing the right identity verification mechanism was another hurdle. We had to decide between Privado and Anon Aadhaar for identity verification. Both had their pros and cons, but balancing security, privacy, and compatibility with our use case was challenging.

Additional Features

Extra Layer of Security with Anon Aadhaar Integration: To strengthen user privacy and security during identity verification, we implemented Anon Aadhaar as an additional identity verification method. This allowed users to securely verify their identity without exposing sensitive personal information, ensuring a higher level of confidentiality and trust in the system.
Triggering the Claim Distribution: If the insurance claim is deemed valid after proof verification, the system triggers the claim distribution process automatically. This ensures that the entire flow is seamless, transparent, and error-free.
