Why are you participating for Based SEA?
To build a crypto hub where the local community can learn crypto & enter the crypto industry not just as user but as player (devs, community manager, on-chain analyst, etc)
What challenges are you focusing on?
-
Educational Engagement in Crypto: Many people find it challenging to understand and engage with cryptocurrency concepts and blockchain technology. The iCrypto MiniApp aims to create an interactive platform that makes learning about crypto easier and more rewarding. By gamifying the learning process, users can earn points for completing educational tasks, such as reading articles and providing feedback.
-
Bridging Web2 and Web3: One of the barriers to blockchain adoption is the transition from traditional web applications (Web2) to decentralized, blockchain-integrated systems (Web3). The iCrypto MiniApp simplifies this process by allowing users to sign up using a Base smart wallet, making it easier for them to interact with blockchain technology directly.
-
Rewarding Knowledge Acquisition: Many educational platforms lack incentives for users to engage deeply with the content. The iCrypto MiniApp addresses this by rewarding users with points for completing learning tasks. These points can later be converted into crypto tokens, motivating users to stay engaged with the content.
-
Access to Web3 Rewards: The app is focused on enabling users to experience the tangible benefits of Web3 by earning crypto tokens for their learning achievements. This helps users understand the potential of blockchain beyond speculation and encourages active participation in the crypto space.
How does your submission address this challenge?
-
Enhancing Educational Engagement with Gamification:
The MiniApp transforms the learning process into an interactive experience where users can earn points for completing tasks like reading articles, providing takeaways, and giving feedback.
By gamifying the learning journey, users are motivated to engage more deeply with the content, which helps them better understand complex crypto concepts. This approach makes learning about blockchain and cryptocurrencies more fun and less intimidating. -
Bridging Web2 and Web3 with a Smooth User Experience:
The app allows users to sign up and connect using their Base smart wallet, seamlessly integrating Web3 capabilities into a familiar Web2-like user experience.
This approach simplifies the transition for users who might be new to blockchain, allowing them to interact with decentralized technologies without needing extensive technical knowledge. -
Rewarding Knowledge Acquisition through Points and Tokens:
The app rewards users with points for completing educational tasks, offering a direct incentive for active learning. These points accumulate over time and can be converted into crypto tokens, adding a tangible reward for users' efforts.
This reward system encourages consistent engagement, making the platform a more attractive place for users to spend time and learn. It addresses the challenge of keeping users motivated and invested in their learning journey. -
Access to Web3 Rewards:
By allowing users to convert their earned points into crypto tokens, the MiniApp provides a direct experience of Web3 value generation. This helps users understand the potential of blockchain technology beyond just theoretical concepts.
Additionally, by using a Merkle tree-based reward distribution system, the app ensures that reward claims are secure and verifiable, which builds trust among users and enhances their experience with blockchain technology.
Challenges I ran into
FE:
User Interface Complexity: Designing an intuitive and engaging user interface that makes learning enjoyable while being easy to navigate was a critical focus. Ensuring that users could quickly access articles, provide feedback, and track their points.
Smart Contracts:
Designing the Merkle Tree-Based Reward System: To ensure a secure and verifiable way for users to claim their token rewards, the smart contract used a Merkle tree-based system. Designing this required careful attention to how data (user addresses and points) were structured and hashed to generate the Merkle root. Creating a secure method for users to prove their eligibility without exposing sensitive data was a complex challenge.
Preventing Multiple Claims: The contract had to be designed to prevent users from claiming the same reward multiple times. This required adding logic to track which users have already claimed rewards for a given Merkle root, ensuring that claims remain fair and secure.
Balancing Flexibility with Security: The smart contract needed to support various reward structures while remaining secure against potential exploits. For example, allowing multiple tokens to be distributed based on user points required flexible yet secure claim logic. Balancing this flexibility with the need for a robust verification process was a significant challenge.
