The crypto ecosystem, especially in Ethereum, has seen a growing number of phishing attacks and scams. Other than user education, the industry has had to rely on blocklists of known phishing websites. However many people will likely have been scammed by a phishing website before it has been added to these blocklists.

We need to reduce the likelihood that crypto scams will be successful.

Hookbreaker is a Chrome extension that analyzes a site of your choosing for signs of phishing. It uses Indicators of Attack (IoAs), known patterns of phishing websites, to check if the site you are viewing is likely a scam.

Hookbreaker does more than existing anti-phishing extensions, as it analyzes HTML content and external script links, not just the website’s domain (which it does too).

The extension only checks the current tab’s site if you click the extension’s icon, preserving privacy for websites that you are comfortable with.
