The problem Hoax Hunter solves
Hoax Hunter is a tool that helps people fact-check and verify information, with the goal of combating the spread of misinformation. In today's digital age, it can be easy for fake news and other types of inaccurate or misleading information to spread quickly online, and this can have serious consequences for individuals, communities, and society as a whole. Misinformation can lead to the spread of harmful ideas and beliefs, can undermine trust in institutions and the media, and can even have serious real-world consequences, such as inciting violence or impacting public policy.
People are often too lazy to go to a website and check if a news article is true or false, so Hoax Hunter makes it easy for them to simply forward a message to the bot and get a quick and accurate response. By providing a convenient and easy-to-use way to fact-check information, Hoax Hunter can help prevent the spread of misinformation and promote the dissemination of accurate and reliable information."
Challenges we ran into
As we develop and maintain the Hoax Hunter application, there are a few challenges that we may run into.

Gathering and maintaining a reliable dataset of labeled news articles can be a challenge, as it requires finding and curating a large number of articles and ensuring that they are accurately labeled.

Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the data in our database is also important, especially if we are relying on human volunteers to contribute to it.

Dealing with changing language and tactics used by purveyors of fake news can also be a challenge, as it requires continually updating and retraining our model to stay up-to-date.

Managing the workload of human volunteers and building and maintaining user trust are important considerations for us as we work to create a trusted and reliable source of information.
