The problem Helmet-detection solves
The higher mortality rate in motorcycle accidents is attributed to negligence in wearing a helmet by two-wheeler riders. Identification of helmetless riders in real-time is an essential task to prevent the occurrence of such events. This project presents an automated system to identify motorcyclists without a helmet from traffic surveillance videos in real-time.This project can be used for automatic traffic control, vehicle tracking and monitoring, border crossing, security and many more.
Challenges we ran into
The major challenge was getting the appropriate data set for training model. And due to time constrait we couldn't train the model with super accuracy. But even with less training, we could perform the desired task.
