Challenges we ran into
While building Healiofy, our telemedicine platform, we faced key challenges in OCR, Groq’s API, and Stellar’s Testnet integration, which we overcame through teamwork and innovation.
Inaccurate OCR with Tesseract.js
Tesseract.js for OCR produced messy text from prescription images, like “Aspirin500mgMetformindaily,” confusing Groq’s medication analysis. We switched to Groq’s vision API, using a prompt to extract structured JSON data. This fixed accuracy for the usage, streamlining the backend.
Chatbot State Loss
The Groq-powered chatbot forgot conversations when users navigated pages, breaking trial usability. We used React Context API and MongoDB to store chat history, ensuring context persisted. This made the chatbot reliable for health queries.
Stellar Payment Bugs
Stellar Testnet payments failed due to Freighter’s network mismatch. We forced Testnet in code and fixed MongoDB subscription updates, enabling seamless 100 test XLM subscriptions. Pre-funded accounts ensured a smooth demo.
These fixes, driven by testing and collaboration, made Healiofy a robust platform for the hackathon, showcasing Groq’s AI and Stellar’s blockchain.
