The problem HEAL-Hospital Emergency Ambulance Locator solves

Our problem statement revolves around the difficult accessibility to ambulance services as well as First-Aid guides and unawareness among citizens as to what steps to take. It is well known that easy & timely availability of ambulances can save a lot of lives, especially in case of emergencies. The state of emergency medical transport i.e. ambulances is a vast issue. The 108 service has been regarded as a successful public private partnership project for handling medical, police, and fire emergencies. However, the service is marred with irregularities and frequent disruptions. Recently, 108 service workers in Ahmedabad went on a strike for poor pay. While we respect their decision, we do not want people to lose precious time because of these instances and thus we aim to provide better and quicker health assistance in case of an emergency as we value the precious time of our patients. Often times, people are unaware of how beneficial first aid proves to be, and our app ensures that this information reaches our users as well through an interactive Chatbot that is made voice enabled in case of panic and a pictorial step to step guide of some very frequent emergencies. We aim to develop a system that can connect our patient to the hospitals as well as provide them with quick ambulance services through our drivers and also help them get in touch with the doctors. Our entire app revolves around the idea of saving TIME and thus our website helps in informing the hospital beforehand about all the patient details as well as the patient history if he/she has provided that in the app, which ensures that the hospital is well prepared in advance. Our main motive through our app remains to provide medical assistance to our users as early as possible through various modes, like showing nearby hospitals in case the ambulances aren't within reach. We hope on saving more lives with the help of our app.

Challenges we ran into

The main hurdle that we had to surpass was for making a user friendly app keeping in mind all the necessities that helps user to flow through the app easily.
Implementing the entire ambulance call and customer pick up service using geolocation, routing listener, various location apis, design apis etc was a big task to overcome.
We wanted to ensure that the user does not face any difficulties while calling the ambulance from our app. A lot of overnightwork and time was put into making that in such short time.
We achieved it by going over Google Developers guide as well as reading articles and experimenting our way through it. The other bug that we faced majorly was while designing our Chatbot and implementing it in our app in such a way that the user feels friendly.
Implementing the voice assistant proved to be very hard but after a lot of brainstorming and making a hundred of errors and debugging our app everytime, we were able to implement that as well.
It was also a task to keep everything happening inside the app updated in the database so that all the infomation and activities can be extracted to the website. We achieved this by constantly checking our working of the app with the Firebase Realtime Database and often solved a lot of errors with the same.
We made sure all the information was being saved in proper way for the retrieval. The logo designing also proved to be hard as we wanted to display our app in the logo completely. We all put our ideas together, combined 2-3 of those and made the present logo, as well as the name HEAL which stands for Hospital Emergency Ambulance Locator.
