HandOverDrive
Hands on air. Wheels on fire.
The problem HandOverDrive solves
Traditional racing games rely on physical controllers or keyboards, which limit immersion and accessibility. HandOverDrive solves this by enabling gesture‑based vehicle control using hand movements captured via a webcam.
By removing the need for controllers, the game offers:
A more immersive and intuitive racing experience
Hands‑free interaction, making gameplay more engaging and modern
A demonstration of how computer vision and hand‑tracking can be applied to real‑time control systems
This project also showcases the potential of gesture control in future gaming, simulators, and touchless interfaces, making interactions more natural, accessible, and innovative.
Challenges we ran into
There were a few bugs with automatic hand tracking and a Unity Crash at the end of the project which was a big u turn for us. We got over them but missed a few opportunities to add more features due to shortage of time.
