GreenToken
Mint. Track. Impact.
The problem GreenToken solves
GreenToken makes it easier for people to support real environmental projects through simple blockchain actions. Instead of donations getting lost in paperwork or middlemen, users can mint eco-tokens that represent contributions to reforestation, clean water, and renewable energy projects.
It helps make environmental impact transparent, traceable, and rewarding users can track where their tokens go, allocate a percentage of their yield to verified projects, and see the results directly on-chain. This turns what used to be a slow, opaque process into an open and interactive climate action system anyone can join
Challenges I ran into
One major challenge was deploying the smart contract and connecting it to the frontend. Sometimes the contract wouldn’t verify properly, or the wallet connection failed due to Base Sepolia network issues. Debugging that setup took multiple attempts and required learning how Hardhat handles environment variables and deployment scripts.
Another hurdle was handling token transactions smoothly making sure users could mint tokens, see their balances, and allocate yields without breaking the interface. Getting the design to feel clean and functional across screens was also tricky.
I overcame these by carefully reading Base and Hardhat documentation, testing smaller contracts first, and debugging one issue at a time. Each fix helped me understand how smart contracts and frontends communicate, making the final version much more stable and educational.
