The problem Good Morning Summer 2024 solves

Stories are the best way to transfer knowledge and understanding. If we want 1 billion people onchain, docs and whitepapers aren’t gonna do it!

Combining lore and story, with arbitrary scarcity and in person experiences, Good Morning Summer 2024 communicates the value of crypto and gives NFT artists another way to monetize.

I’ve been trying out different ways to publish stories. Most platforms keep the attention value my stories might bring. Even Mirror, while still providing a way to mint, doesn’t help with curation, nor does it give much incentive for someone to mint.

With this Zora mint on Base, of a PDF containing 5 original stories, I’ve created a supply and demand game.

I could have set the price at a (currently) reasonable 0.002 ETH, with an unlimited supply, and cross my fingers that people would mint. Considering the ever increasing amount of NFTs, I might sell a few to some friends, who I’d rather just gift to, but that’s about it.

Instead, I minted 51 NFTs, selling them at 0.001 ETH each. I collected 15 NFTs for myself, sent 16 NFTs to addresses that collected some of my previous Mirror posts, and 15 NFTs are available for sale.

The supply and demand game is now whether I can drum up enough demand that they sell out, providing potential for resale profits that I, or other NFT owners, list for sale and or except bid offers. Thus, bypassing the royalties challenge.

I expect to learn quite a bit from this supply and demand game. How much energy will I need to apply to the game to actually drum up demand? Will anyone I’ve sent NFTs to actually want to sell and join in this game with me?

With Good Morning Summer 2024, I have a digital collectable and physical zine, with stories about crypto that anyone can understand, and a supply and demand game to learn from.

Challenges I ran into

The biggest challenge for stories onchain is how to both read and collect them. Zora allows for PDFs, and reading on a desktop size screen is possible. Although, a book reader, with NFT features, would be ideal. For now, a physical zine has been printed for ease of reading. On the back of the zine is a QR code that leads to the collectable on Zora.

The stories have been written, so now the biggest challenge is drumming up demand to sell NFTs. I’ve casted across multiple Warpcast channels, printed physical zines and will bring them to Idyllwild, during Basecamp and FWB Fest. When the number of available NFTs for sale reaches 5, I will share the Zora link again, so those who might want to know about the supply and demand game can participate. Expect more experiments to drive attention!

• Include a communication channel for updates on Zora NFT description.
• Invite multiple authors for more diverse content and increased network outreach
• Zora feature request: sell 1 NFT at a time, instead of a whole collection
