give.fun
Tax-deductible donations on-chain
The problem give.fun solves
Problem 1: Expensive fees for making online donations to nonprofits. Charity shouldn't come at a price!
Problem 2: It's hard to get tax-deduction for crypto donations due to unclear regulations.
Problem 3: Much of crypto is used for memes and degeneracy, not enough for doing positive things for humanity.
We solve both by making on-chain donations simple, identity-provable (with Humanity), and cheap.
User Interaction and Data Flow
Organizations can use this platform to accept donations on chain for their nonprofit organization, and people can use this platform to donate to nonprofits on chain, while receiving the tax benefits associated with donating
The project architecture and development process
Someone interacts with this project by inputting their nonprofit details such as EIN number, organization name, and registration PDFs. After being verified, they are enabled to post nonprofit campaigns that allows them to collect donations. A donator interacts with this project by browsing the gallery of campaigns and donating, as well as using the verify function with humanity to make sure that the address they are sending to is a nonprofit address
Product Integrations
Humanity, used to issue and verify credentials for nonprofit associated wallets.
Key differentiators and uniqueness of the project
Some key features in our product is the two sided ability to both approve and verify that wallets belong to 501c3 organizations as well as giving donors the ability to claim tax exemptions on their donations, a feature that was not previously possible. It's similar to a mix of gofundme and turbotax, allowing donors to donote to campaigns and receive writeoffs while also keeping track of their donations over time.
Trade-offs and shortcuts while building
Some quick fixes or shortcuts:
- We didn't do the aggregating transactions made to 501c3 wallets overtime. This would be like the turbotax feature but unfortunately didn't get there in time, so we'd want to add that in the future
- We also allowed businesses to just submit their EIN and org name to get verified instead of parsing the government issued document with these facts just in the interest of time and since that was not web3 related or related to building on Humanity.
