The Indian women freelance market faces several challenges including limited access to job opportunities, lack of standardisation in payment and working conditions, and a limited pool of clients.
With massive layoffs and limited Indian platforms offering freelance work to women along with skill development and secured timely payments, Gigify aims to improve the life of both Indian small scale businesses and women freelancers.
Current Indian freelance platforms have poor UI, low wages and repetitive work where remuneration is not provided timely.
We aim to bridge this very gap by allowing users to filter work based on different skill sets, provide regular work and take low commission on the payment to motivate women /lgbtq community.
We verify and regulate the profiles of the freelancers and the buisnesses with our end to end authentication system.
Buisnesses can list out their work openings and can review profiles of applied candidates, evaluating them based on their previous work, rating provided by skill assessments and confirm their deal with the help of a messenger tool. They can then pay 30 percent of the money at the start of the work and rest 70 percent is paid at a fixed deadline after the work is completed. A rating is provided to the Business as well based on their work environment ,behaviour, and punctuality in payments.
Orkes
This was our first time working with a workflow tool and while I found it to be a useful tool, Iwe encountered some difficulties in utilizing all of its features and operations. Despite our efforts, we were unable to utilize some of the key functions that would have been useful for my work as it was showing we are not authenticated users to use external links for operations Additionally, creating a new workflow from scratch proved to be a challenging task as we struggled to fully grasp the complexities of the existing workflow. Despite these setbacks, we remained steadfast in our determination to find a solution to these challenges and make the best use of the tools available to us.
ReactJS
One common issue we faced was correctly configuring the React Router to match the URL to the correct component. Another issue that we faced is properly handling the navigation between different routes and ensuring a smooth transition between them. Additionally, there were problems with state management and preserving data between components during navigation. To overcome these challenges, we tried to build good understanding of React Router and utilising community through forums and documentation also proved beneficial in resolving setup and routing issues
Authentication and Algorithm base
Another problem we faced was authenticating both freelancers’ gender and verifying the business. We are still working on the algorithm that updates ratings of freelancers and buisnesses based on payments feedback and skill assessments.
