Genus - Video Conferencing Solution

Towards bridging the connectivity gap and improving communication!

The problem Genus - Video Conferencing Solution solves

Creates a digital ecosystem that lets the students connect with the teacher in a closed loop. Genus works on WebRTC technology and created a peer-to-peer connection between the teacher and an indivual students. Genus does not follow the mesh network for a group video call, rather it keeps the connection one on one for the teacher making it easier to handle the load and accomodate more students in to a particular class.

The studnts are not allowed to view the list of the participants of the class and neither can they access the streams of the other students present in the class. On the other hand, teacher receives the streams of all the students making it easier for him/her to handle the class and point out the nuisance creator.

For greator reach and ease of communication, teacher has a public and private chat option. Messages sent in the public chat are visible to every user and messages sent in the private chat are visible only to the student to whom it is sent. The teacher also has a mute all and mute indivual system making it easier to handle the class. The teacher can remove a particular student in extreme cases.

Genus also supports attendence feature so that the teacher can record the class attendence and a native video recording feature for the teacher for future refernce. The attendence can be recorded at anytime in the class

Challenges we ran into

IIntially we faced challenges in the indivual peer to peer connection with the teacher. The easiest way was to implement the mesh network but that defeated the very purpose of creating Genus in the first place.
The attendence feature and the video recording feature we also a big challenge for us.
