Genesis Jukebox
Your Web3 Jukebox.
The problem Genesis Jukebox solves
Several key problems that this application solves are:
Low and Untransparent Payments for Artists: In the traditional streaming model, a very small percentage of the revenue trickles down to the artists. The money is distributed through a complex network of intermediaries, making it difficult for creators to track and understand how their earnings are calculated. Genesis Jukebox tackles this by creating a direct-to-artist tipping system where 100% of the tip goes directly to the creator's wallet.
Lack of Direct Connection with Fans: The current system acts as a middleman, separating artists from their audience. Genesis Jukebox allows for a direct, transactional relationship between a fan and an artist through the simple act of tipping.
Limited Monetization for Emerging Artists: It's hard for new and independent artists to get noticed and earn a sustainable income. By allowing listeners to tip songs they like, Genesis Jukebox provides a low-friction way for fans to show direct financial support, which can be a lifeline for emerging talent.
The Problem of "Digital Scarcity" and Ownership: In the streaming world, music is a rental commodity. You don't "own" a song, you're just paying for the right to listen to it. By using on-chain music and Farcaster's decentralized nature, Genesis Jukebox taps into the Web3 principle of digital ownership, giving music a more tangible value.
Creative Curation is Not Monetized: The act of building a good playlist is a creative act in itself, but it's not a monetized one on most platforms. Genesis Jukebox solves this by charging a fee for playlist creation, which rewards the curator for their work and helps fund the platform's development.
Challenges I ran into
Building Genesis Jukebox was a masterclass in creative problem-solving. My first challenge was integrating a truly decentralized AI for playlist art. I started with Livepeer AI, but I hit a technical wall when the renders consistently failed.
Instead of abandoning the feature, I pivoted. I integrated Google Gemini for its robust and reliable text-to-image capabilities. The cost, however, was a significant hurdle. To ensure the feature was sustainable and paid for itself without burdening users, I pioneered a seamless microtransaction system.
By leveraging X402 from the CDP dev portal, I enabled the app to handle the small transactions needed for each AI image generation. This breakthrough means that every time a user creates an AI-powered playlist, the technology pays for itself. It's a perfect example of how the right on-chain tools can turn a technical challenge into a powerful, self-sustaining feature, all accomplished by one person.
Lastly, the updated Farcaster manifest wasn't as friendly to setup as the docs made it seem.

Other Onchain Proof
While still in its early stages and without any marketing, the metrics for Genesis Jukebox show promising organic activity, which validates the core concept. The data from the Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP) provides key insights into early user behavior and app functionality.
Onramp Activity: Over 60 Transactions
The most significant metric is the over 60 onramp transactions. This is a direct indicator of product-market fit. An "onramp" is when a user converts fiat currency (like USD) into crypto. This metric shows that users are not just browsing the app; they are taking a high-commitment action by actively funding their wallets to use the platform. This proves that a group of early users finds enough value in the app's offerings to spend real money to participate, which is the strongest form of validation for a new product.
Total RPC Requests: Around 600 Requests
The 600 total RPC requests represent the total number of interactions between the app and the blockchain. This includes everything from fetching song data to generating AI images and processing payments. In this context, the high number of RPC requests compared to the number of onramp transactions shows that users are highly engaged with the application's features. This indicates a low-friction user experience and a high level of feature use, which is exactly what a product needs to keep users coming back.
The Story of Organic Growth
The fact that this activity is 100% organic is a powerful testament to the app's innate appeal. This isn't a result of a marketing push; it's a direct result of the product's value proposition. The metrics demonstrate that, even in a crowded space, Genesis Jukebox has found a small but highly engaged group of users who are willing to use the app and pay for its services. This strong foundation proves the market is ready for a decentralized music platform that directly empowers creators.

My next step of creating a demo video and promoting the app will be built on this solid, data-backed proof of concept.
