Challenges I ran into

Challenges & How We Overcame Them

During the early stages of building Gedowize, we encountered a significant technical hurdle:

⚠️ Browser Compatibility Issue

The platform wasn’t loading properly on certain browsers — especially older versions or those with limited Web3 support. After debugging, we discovered the issue was tied to the wallet connection layer used for blockchain authentication and transactions.

Some browsers were either:

Blocking wallet connection scripts by default, or

Lacking support for the injected wallet provider interface.

🔧 How We’re Fixing It

We’re currently implementing a multi-wallet connection layer that gracefully detects the user’s environment and fallback options:

Adding universal wallet connectors like WalletConnect and RainbowKit.

Using Base-compatible SDKs that support both mobile and desktop browsers.

Introducing a progressive loading system, so the design and AI-building tools load even before the wallet fully connects.

This approach ensures that users can still explore and design before logging in or connecting a wallet — making Gedowize smoother, faster, and more accessible across all browsers.

✅ Next Steps

As we finalize this fix, we’re also adding:

The new design and building modules,

Better front-end rendering optimizations, and

Enhanced wallet reconnection logic for reliability.

What Makes Gedowize Stand Out

Gedowize isn’t just another construction marketplace — it’s a smart, transparent, and decentralized construction ecosystem that blends AI, blockchain, and real-world logistics to fix the biggest pain points in the construction industry.

  1. AI + Blockchain Integration

Most construction platforms focus on one side — either procurement or project management.
Gedowize combines both worlds:

AI automates design, cost estimation, and workforce matching.

Blockchain (on Base) secures payments, records progress, and builds trust.

This fusion creates an intelligent, self-auditing system where every design, transaction, and milestone can be verified and trusted.

  1. Full Construction Lifecycle in One Platform

From designing a home to buying materials, hiring workers, booking surveyors, and tracking project payments, Gedowize unifies every step.
No need to jump between apps or WhatsApp groups — everything happens within one secure platform.

🔹 One ecosystem → from blueprint to building.

  1. Trust and Transparency via Base Blockchain

The use of Base (Coinbase Layer 2) gives Gedowize an edge in transparency and cost efficiency.

Smart contracts guarantee that funds are only released when milestones are met.

On-chain worker and supplier profiles prevent fraud.

Stablecoin (USDC) payments eliminate delays and currency barriers.

This builds trust between homeowners, suppliers, and contractors, especially in markets where trust is often missing.

  1. Real-World Accessibility

Gedowize is designed for mobile-first users in Africa, where most construction stakeholders use smartphones.
It offers:

A lightweight mobile interface that runs even on low-end devices.

Offline-first features (in development) for regions with weak connectivity.

AI assistants that guide users through material orders and project planning in simple language.

How the Alpha Build Proves This Value

The Gedowize Alpha already demonstrates our core innovation pillars:

AI House Designer → Users can generate instant house plans, budgets, and material lists.

Materials Marketplace → Verified suppliers list their products; AI compares prices automatically.

Blockchain Wallet Integration → Early Base integration enables secure wallet login and stablecoin payments (currently under refinement due to browser compatibility issues).

Smart Workflow → Even in its early stage, users can move from design → materials → payments seamlessly.

These working features show that the Gedowize concept is not theoretical — it’s a practical, functional step toward digitizing and decentralizing Africa’s construction industry.

Why It Matters

The Alpha validates the core thesis:

With AI and blockchain, construction doesn’t have to be chaotic, expensive, or untrustworthy.

Gedowize proves that technology can build trust, cut inefficiencies, and make construction faster, safer, and fairer for everyone.

Who is your target customer?

Ideal Users & Audience Validation
Our Ideal Users

Gedowize serves a broad construction ecosystem, but our early focus is on the three groups most affected by inefficiency, lack of trust, and price opacity in the construction process:

  1. Homeowners & Individual Builders

People planning to build or renovate their own homes — often frustrated by inflated material costs, unreliable contractors, and lack of clear project tracking.

They want affordable materials, transparent pricing, and verified workers.

Many use mobile phones as their primary digital tool, making Gedowize’s mobile-first design ideal.

  1. Contractors & Site Managers

Small to mid-sized builders managing multiple projects who struggle with:

Delayed payments, poor material logistics, and limited access to reliable workers.

Gedowize offers AI project estimation, worker matching, and on-chain milestone payments — solving their top pain points.

  1. Material Suppliers & Dealers

Local suppliers seeking consistent buyers and faster, more reliable payments.

They benefit from direct access to verified contractors and homeowners.

Blockchain payments remove the risk of payment delays or disputes.

How We Validated This Audience

  1. Field Interviews & Market Observation

We conducted informal interviews with:

Homeowners in Nairobi and Bondo building residential houses,

Contractors managing 2–5 active sites,

Suppliers selling sand, cement, and stone in hardware markets.

Key findings:

Over 80% of participants said they don’t trust online suppliers because of fraud.

7 out of 10 contractors said estimating material costs is still manual and error-prone.

Most homeowners complained about price variations and poor accountability once payments are made.

This confirmed that trust and transparency are the core problems to solve.

  1. Alpha User Testing & Feedback

In the alpha test, we shared a working demo with 20 early users (mix of contractors, homeowners, and material dealers).

Insights gathered:

Suppliers appreciated the on-chain transaction history for proof of delivery.

The main user friction point was wallet connection and browser compatibility, which we’re actively fixing.

This early feedback validated that our audience interest but highlighted the difficulty for people to understand how to interact with wallets. we are making the wallets a secondary function they do not need to deal with directly

  1. Community Interest

We’re building a Telegram and WhatsApp feedback group of early users — mostly from construction communities, real estate groups, and supplier networks.
This direct engagement helps refine user flows and prioritize the most requested features:

Easier mobile wallet onboarding.

AI-generated home templates for rural and urban settings.

Local language support for broader accessibility.

Conclusion

Our research and early feedback confirm that:

Gedowize’s ideal users — homeowners, contractors, and suppliers — all share the same pain: lack of trust, transparency, and accurate cost estimation.

By solving these problems with AI automation and blockchain security, Gedowize meets real, validated needs in one of Africa’s most dynamic and underserved industries.

What Makes Gedowize Distinct

Here’s how Gedowize differs from these competitors, what unique value propositions we bring, and how our alpha build is already validating some of those:

Feature / Capability Competitors (Jumba, JengaPlus, WaziMart) Gedowize
AI-Assisted Design & Planning Mostly focus on marketplace + logistics + price transparency. They allow material ordering and price comparisons. Few or no features for automatically generating house designs, BOQs, 3D visualization, or AI matching of worker skills & survey works. We integrate AI tools: house design generation, BOQ and cost estimation, worker matching, survey analysis. This helps users plan projects, get better cost estimates up front, reduces risk of over-ordering or under-ordering.
Blockchain / Smart Contract Use Currently, competitors do not appear to have on-chain payment/escrow, verifiable worker credentials via blockchain, or immutable project milestone tracking. Their payment and trust mechanisms are more traditional (platform ratings, supplier verification, etc.). Gedowize uses Base blockchain for: secure payments (stablecoins, escrow smart contracts), worker/supplier profiles that are verifiable (NFT or credential-backed), transparency of project milestones and record keeping on-chain. This adds trust, reduces fraud, gives stronger accountability.
Full Project Lifecycle Coverage Competitors cover materials sourcing, sometimes logistics, maybe supplier verification, price comparison. They generally don’t cover everything from design → worker hiring → survey works → infrastructure/road projects. Gedowize aims to cover the entire chain: starting with design, then materials, then hiring skilled labor, survey works, plus larger projects (roads/infrastructure). So we offer a more end-to-end solution.
Payment & Delivery Milestones Jumba and others offer logistics and delivery, maybe tracking, but typically payment is upfront or on delivery; fewer protections via escrow or smart contract; fewer mechanisms for releasing payments based on milestone completion. Gedowize uses smart contracts to manage escrow, release tied to milestone verification. This lowers risk for both buyers and workers/suppliers.
Trust, Verification & Reputation Verification in competitors is through supplier verification, ratings, reviews. May rely on platform vetting, but largely centralized. Gedowize’s verification layer is enriched by blockchain: immutable records, verifiable credentials, possibility of worker IDs (NFTs), on-chain reputation. This increases verifiability and reduces risk of false claims.
Geographic / Device Accessibility Competitors are expanding in Kenya; some may have apps or mobile-friendly sites. But may face device/browser compatibility issues, especially with Web3 or newer tech. Gedowize is being built mobile-first and includes fallback for browser compatibility (we have already encountered browser issues with wallet connection and are actively fixing them). Also planning for lighter devices, offline or semi-offline modes, so more usable in lower connectivity / lower end device settings.

How Our Alpha Build Validates These Differences

We have already built an AI house design + BOQ generator in the alpha, which demonstrates real‐utility not just in sourcing materials but planning/design tasks.

The part of wallet integration / blockchain payments is working in certain browsers, though with some compatibility gaps (which we’re fixing). This shows we are on track with secure, verifiable payments and identities.

Early testers (contractors, homeowners, suppliers) have responded positively to the transparency and verification features — e.g., saying they trust the product more because of on-chain records or verified profiles.

Feedback has shown that people are willing to use a single platform for multiple parts of their construction task (design + procurement + hiring), rather than bouncing across different platforms and vendors.
