Challenges we ran into
Bug: Inconsistent Data Display
Description: Donated food information might be displayed incorrectly on the platform. This inconsistency could affect various data points, not just expiry dates. Examples include:
*Incorrect food descriptions:The type, quantity, or dietary information for donated food might be inaccurate. This could lead to allergic reactions or confusion for users with dietary restrictions.
- Missing pick-up details: Important information about pick-up locations or times might be missing or displayed incorrectly, causing inconvenience or missed opportunities for recipients.
- Inaccurate donor information: Contact details or other information about the food donor might be wrong, hindering communication or follow-up.
Impact: This bug can create frustration and confusion for both donors and recipients. It can also lead to wasted food if inaccurate descriptions deter users or logistical issues prevent pick-up.
Potential Causes:
*Data Entry Errors: Similar to expiry dates, mistakes during food listing can lead to inconsistencies.
- Integration Issues: If Food Share pulls data from external sources (e.g., restaurant menus), there might be compatibility issues causing data to be displayed incorrectly.
- Data Corruption: Technical problems could lead to data being stored or retrieved inaccurately.
Solutions:
*Enhanced Data Entry: Improve the user interface for food listing to minimize errors. Implement features like drop-down menus and pre-filled fields to standardize data.
- Data Validation: Integrate checks to ensure data entered by donors conforms to expected formats and ranges.
- Robust Data Management: Ensure the platform stores and retrieves data reliably. Implement data backups and recovery procedures.
- Thorough Testing: Test various food listing scenarios and data integrations to identify and fix
