The problem FollowCaster solves
- Starting a new social media account is hard. Not only on Twitter, Youtube and Tiktok, but also on Farcaster. Algorithms are against you, account discovery sucks, and it's insanely difficult to get to your audience. FollowCaster allows your audience to find you. Your audience is also likely to follow you, as they will earn tradeable Follow tokens for doing so.
- Regarding web3 social media specifically, there's no great account discovery for Farcast. Followcaster, with 7 years of experience in AI, will continually add and improve AI account discovery. An embeddings search for accounts similar to your interests and an LLM analysis of results lets us filter for the accounts you'd find most interesting.
- In my opinion the biggest hurdle for FarCaster is telling apart real users and bots. Real users are stuck without a badge for months, which is quite demotivating. Lots of badge holders have expressed a desire to help these new accounts, before they leave the platform. FollowCaster finally solves this issue. Badge holders get paid for interacting with new real accounts.
Challenges I ran into
Spreading the app on Farcaster was the main hurdle. Due to the way the badges work, new accounts are basically shadowbanned. It makes sense, I might be a spammer as well. It's especially hard for a brand account ("FollowCaster" in this case), as I'm reluctant to post like I would on a personal account.
Haven't fully overcome the hurdle yet, but I'm trying to be active on the platform with my brand's content, finding relevant channels and users directly. 20 users onboarded through FarCaster in the first few days, so it's slowly working. Using frames for onboarding seems to work well, I'll keep exploring that.
