Taking care of our physical health is a huge priority. We all try to indulge in physical activity on a regular basis, however, more often than not it is difficult to remain consistent with our workouts as our energy level fluctuates throughout the month.
In researching the reason behind this fluctuation we discovered that our menstrual cycle plays a major role in the energy levels experienced due to the different hormones released.
It was also found that 72% of women have no idea about the relationship between exercise and their period cycles.
In order to tackle this problem that is plaguing our everyday lives, we have designed FlowFit, the workout app designed specifically for women, to maximize their fitness journey by considering their menstrual cycle. With FlowFit, you'll never have to worry about guessing which workout is best for you, because our app suggests customized workouts based on where you are in your menstrual cycle.
Our dietary needs change throughout the month. FlowFit provides personalized meal suggestions based on your menstrual cycle, helping you maintain optimal nutrition and overall health. Our app takes into account factors such as hormones, dietary preferences, and energy levels. With various healthy and delicious recipes to choose from, you'll never get bored with your meals.
Our app also provides a simple period tracker so that you can know when to expect upcoming periods and possible cycle deviations. Additionally, FlowFit includes a comprehensive tracking system that can be integrated with wearable fitness trackers, so you can keep track of your progress and see the positive impact your menstrual cycle is having on your workouts. We also have a few additional features such as detailed blogs about women's health and wellness, a community of supportive women to grow together, daily reminders to stay motivated, and extra “Treat yourself” meal suggestions!
A challenge that we faced while designing our solution was related to researching about the appropriate workouts/diets according to menstrual cycle phase in the limited amount of time. We had to comb through various research papers and read blogs in order to design an effective solution. We overcame this challenge by dividing the task among the team members and then collectively discussing at the end.
We also explored the Figma tool, which was new to all of us. It was a little challenging to figure out the intricacies of this tool in the stipulated amount of time. We referred to various helpful online resources and videos to overcome this challenge.
A future challenge/limitation of our idea revolves around the fact that all women are different and so are their periods. Moreover, many women suffer from lifestyle disorders such as PCOS and this would affect the accurate prediction of their periods.
