Sticking to healthy habits is hard - yet the cost of failure is massive, with the obesity epidemic killing millions every year. Fitcentive uses universal crypto rewards, fitness trackers, and social accountability to incentivize lifelong habits and help people live healthier, longer lives.
Now is the ideal time to build Fitcentive because people are increasingly health-conscious, and fitness watches are pervasive and accurate, allowing us to profile a person's holistic health from biomarkers.
Users wanted non–zero-sum rewards. How can someone get 50x rewards in a health challenge?
1a. We opted for a pooled rewards system with massive multiplier potential. Our system also prioritizes high performers over high cash stakes.
Different biometric devices, such as Whoop, Apple Watch, and Garmin, track VO2 Max, HRV, and Sleep Efficiency differently.
2a. I wore all three devices for a month. Then, we reverse-engineered our own holistic health scores and normalized the individual metrics like VO2 Max, HRV, and Sleep Efficiency.
On-ramps are cluttered and new users complained about KYC.
3a. Luca from Base showed us Coinbase’s Onramp - the <$500/week without KYC is a game changer. We're now building on Base with Smart Wallet and Paymaster integrations.
What accountability features are strong enough to replicate an in-person trainer?
4a. We are still experimenting here. Users are more motivated with collaborative teams rather than taking money from their friends and prefer simple, pre-set challenges they can easily share without much explanation. We are currently building towards a digital personal trainer.
