The problem Finvest solves
Enabling the underserved population to come into mainstream financial tools and services through education, engagement, and collaborative savings - where informed decisions shape a secure and transparent financial future.
Our hackathon project aims to develop a robust and user-friendly finance-related web application that serves a dual purpose: providing financial education through blogs. Additionally, we introduce a unique feature called "POT", which facilitates collaborative savings among a group of users, this gives a large amount of money to the user at a point which can be useful to buy or pay for something and can be collected from different people who joined the same pot, and this process continues till all the money is split among the individuals.
Also our goals doesn't end here, we also provide financial news which is trending in either the Indian or global economy, which can keep the user up to date with the market trends, also we have a section dedicated to users who are new to market, where they can learn about different topics and aspects of finance.
Challenges we ran into
Well there were a lot of hurdles which we faced while building this,
- We tried to use blockchain for storing the transaction information, it was our first time working with blockchain and we spent a lot more time than expected on building it and ended up setting it up properly but we were not able to integrate it with web.
- Another one is we had a lot of independent services going on for eg. NLP based AI news generator where we had the code ready but couldn't integrate it to web because of less time.
- The last and the scariest bug we faced was at the last hour of hackathon where our CSS wasn't getting rendered and it was just white html page and we were so stressed and tensed seeing the deadline and unable to fix that, after going to all the past commits, and around 10 commits early we had changed a middleware which was causing this, for a moment we were like this is so over, but the team work made it possible. Scary!
