The problem Fintastic solves
Fintastic aims to simplify personal finance management by providing users with an easy-to-use platform that helps them track their income, expenses, and investments in real-time. With built-in financial analysis tools and visualizations, it helps users understand their spending habits, plan budgets, and make informed decisions about savings and investments. Additionally, it offers personalized insights and tips to help users meet their financial goals, such as saving for a vacation or paying off debt faster.
This project makes the process of managing personal finances easier and more secure, providing users with a central platform to manage everything from tracking expenses to investment growth. The app also offers financial literacy resources to empower users to make better financial decisions, minimizing risks associated with poor financial planning.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge we encountered while building Fintastic was integrating multiple APIs for banking and investment data aggregation. Each provider had different formats for their data, which led to discrepancies and bugs when trying to standardize and display information in the app. To overcome this, we implemented a custom data normalization layer that processes incoming data into a unified format before it reaches the user interface.
Another hurdle was ensuring the app's security, especially with sensitive financial data. We had to implement robust encryption standards and undergo thorough security testing to protect user data from potential breaches. This required substantial research into best practices for secure financial data storage and transmission, and we overcame it by adopting industry-standard security protocols.
