The best advice ever given to engineering students is "to explore all fields", that is, trying out various career paths before committing to one. But there's a major flaw with this. To explore one field, one will have to do a course for one month or so. Only after trying some projects (which again take a lot of time), that one will be able to ascertain if he likes the field or not.
FieldReady tackles this problem directly. It provides various courses in many fields that a student might want to explore, such as cinematography, cloud computing, 3d design, etc. It accomplishes this through two features -- quizzes, and modules. Each course has its own tailor-built job-simulating 'module', with real-time AI feedback, that helps the user get a flavor of the real-life tasks in the field of their choice. The user can also request a live mentor interaction for a more human understanding.
In the "flexibility-discipline" spectrum of various MOOC platforms, FieldReady lies comfortably in between. While it's not as leisurely as SkillShare, or MasterClass, it's also not too overtly professional like LinkedIn Learning or Coursera.
Here’s a brief about the challenges we faced during the OC hackathon:
Theme Selection: We had to analyze all aspects of the four themes presented in the hackathon and carefully decide on one that would be most impactful and aligned with our vision.
Competitor Analysis: We conducted a thorough analysis of existing platforms to identify their shortcomings. This allowed us to focus on areas where we could offer better solutions, such as enhancing user engagement, simplifying course selection, and ensuring more hands-on experience options.
Interface Design: Designing an interface was challenging, as we had to strike the right balance between aesthetic appeal and professionalism. The platform needed to be visually engaging while maintaining a professional look that instills trust in users.
