Hands-on financial education has been difficult for the longest time — everything was managed verbally or through messy spreadsheets. But not anymore.
Ferfie is a family finance app powered by crypto. It's an allowance and chore platform for the parent, while for the kids it's a fun way to complete chores, receive allowances, and learn about personal finance through real-world experience.
Kids can use their rewards to trade tokens, collect NFTs, and purchase gift cards — all managed by permissions the parents set. Ferfie is designed to bring structure, transparency, and learning into the home, giving families an easy entry point into crypto and financial education.
Ferfie runs on stablecoins like USDC, CADC, EURC, IDRX, and BRZ, so the value of a $5 allowance today is still $5 tomorrow. You can set up recurring allowances, or send one-time payments, and assign chores in three different ways: individually, first-to-complete, or to all your kids.
You can also view their chore history and earnings and every other stat, making it simple to track behavior and reward consistency.
Permissions- your rules, their little onchain economy.
One challange I ran into was the announcement that the reservoir API will shut down in October, right after the nft features were implemented, when the announcement came out I started replacing the reservoir API & SDK with the opensea SDK.
Another challenge I ran into was parent auth and transaction approvals. At first, I tried a rudimentary setup using the ethers library and manually constructing transaction and message requests to connect the parent wallet and send approvals. This approach was clunky. I found a better method which was to integrate the OnchainKit, which made the entire process super easy, it took 10 lines of code(not including the providers.tsx) with the OnchainKit and 50+ with the ethers library.
Additionally, finding a gift card provider that worked and was willing to integrate was difficult until I came across Bando, another project from Base Batches. They were very helpful and willing to integrate.
Cheering for a project means supporting a project you like with as little as 0.0025 ETH. Right now, you can Cheer using ETH on Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
