Break The Taboo!!

The problem FemineSync solves

23 million girls are school dropouts because they don't know much about menstruation cycles and hygiene. 15 million girls think menstruation is a curse for girls and don't know its cause. These myths are passed down from generation to generation and create taboos. Our mission with FemineSync is to raise awareness about menstruation, combat the stigma surrounding it, and empower women with essential knowledge and resources.

We are actively contributing to SDG 1: No Poverty, by ensuring access to affordable menstrual hygiene products and education, and SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by promoting menstrual health and hygiene practices. Moreover, our initiative aligns with SDG 5: Gender Equality, by empowering women with knowledge and resources related to menstruation.

FemineSync is a comprehensive online platform dedicated to menstrual health awareness, combining informative articles, interactive resources, community forums, and personalized recommendations. Our mission is to break taboos surrounding menstruation, provide essential information about menstrual hygiene, and empower women with knowledge and resources for well-being. By offering a variety of care products, disposal animations, and secure medical advice, we strive to foster positive attitudes towards menstruation and promote gender equality. Through engagement with blogs, FAQs, podcasts, and customized quizzes, users can connect, support, and better understand their bodies. Moreover, FemineSync actively empowers underprivileged women by providing employment opportunities and combating poverty through the manufacture of sustainable period products. Our commitment lies in improving women's health, fostering community, and contributing to the well-being of women everywhere.

Challenges we ran into

Cultural and Social Stigma: Deep-rooted cultural and social beliefs about menstruation as taboo or impure may hinder acceptance and participation in educational programs.

Lack of Access to Resources: Limited access to educational materials, sanitary products, and healthcare services in certain regions may pose challenges in reaching and supporting marginalized communities.

Gender Norms and Discrimination: Gender norms that prioritize boys education over girls and discriminatory practices against menstruating individuals can impede efforts to keep girls in school and educate them about menstruation.

Resistance from Traditional Institutions: Resistance from traditional institutions such as religious organizations or conservative groups that uphold menstrual taboos can hinder efforts to change perceptions and behaviors surrounding menstruation.

One challenge faced was ensuring seamless integration of user data across components. We addressed this by implementing robust data validation, clear transfer protocols, and API-driven communication. Technical decisions included standardized data schema, API endpoints, and encryption measures for security. Regular testing and monitoring were key to resolving integration issues promptly.
