Food Wastage in India: According to UNEP’s Food Wastage Index report, India wastes approximately 68.7 million tonnes of food annually. This equates to about 50 kgs of food wasted per person per year.

According to UNEP’s (United Nations Environment Programme), food wastage index report, 68.7 million tones of food is wasted annually in India, it is about 50 kgs per person.
India is at 2nd position in terms of wastage of food.
FSSAI reported that 1/3rd of all food produced in India gets wasted or spoilt before it is even eaten.
According to the Global Hunger Index 2021, India ranks 101st out of 116 countries, with a score of 27.5, indicating a serious level of hunger.
