Soil is in grave danger because of the global depletion of organic content in farmlands, due to deficient organic feed from plants and animals. Trees (previously on farms) were massively uprooted because of their excessive fertilizer consumption (when fertilizers were first introduced), and animals are largely replaced by machines - putting back almost no bio-waste to allow the soil to replenish itself and complete the biodiversity cycle. The organic matter depletion is such, that the micro-nutrient levels present in eight oranges today match upto only one orange (say about) 50 years ago. At the present rate of depletion - only about 60 years of cultivable land will be left. Thus, bringing back best-practices such as tree-based agriculture and cover crops and so on must be restored and pushed forward to save the dying soil. Our prototype forum addresses this exact motive by encouraging farmers to increase organic content in their soils - as produce from richer soil will be retailed at a higher price on our forum (well justified given the nutrient depletion). Each farmer gets his individual profile where he can showcase his farm and enlist his soil factors, the authenticity of which will be ensured through uploading soil lab reports. Traders can sign up and search for farm-produce grown in particular soil conditions with the help of search filters, thus making the forum an effective retail practice which encourages enhacing the soil. Also, the presence of soil advisors comes in handy in the forum - helping them play their effective part in advising farmers on a case-by-case basis to improve their soil. Hence, this integrated framework of the triology of farmers, traders and soil advisors forms the part of the solution - which must be pressed to ensure the food security of future generations.
