Farm Invasion Detection System - FIND'EM

FIND'EM focuses on supporting farmers to safeguard their farms from the invasion of animals like monkeys(mainly), pigs, boars, etc.

The problem Farm Invasion Detection System - FIND'EM solves

Are we aware about the loss faced by farmers due to invasion of animals in farms?
Do we even have an idea about how lethal this issue is which is sadly going undetered from so many years.
I have seen my grandparents stay in farms for hours together to just guard their farms from animal invasion.
I have seen my uncles running at 4 in the morning to just keep the their crops safe from animals.
I have seen various farmers crying after seeing their crops destroyed by monkeys.
How many of us know that farmers in Himachal Pradesh alone face a loss of over 500 crores every year and that is only by monkey invasions. 500 crores not a joke at all and certainly not for our farmers.
So the problem here is farmers cannot keep running around all the time and certain animals being intelligent get used to these manequins and learn that they are harmless.
So we have come up with a sophisticated system or a machine which detects animals through an omnidirectional camera and makes loud sounds which scare animals away. Now dont animals get used to a single sound?
yes they do and that is why we play 40-50 different sounds at random so that the animals cannot get used to the sounds. We have particularly only those sounds which scare away animals like thunder sounds, gun shots, langur sounds(a breed of a monkey than monkeys are scared off), humans screaming and shouting sounds and many more.
Talking about the finances for this machine, the making cost will sum up to about 15000-20000 INR which is highly affordable to farmers. As per our research we are yet to come across any firm solving this problem so we have a large open market too.
Our customers can be both B-C and B-B where we can sell our machine directly to farmers and also sell our machine in bulk to other businesses.
We hope to provide a solution to one of the most lethal problems faced all over India through this machine.
Thank you.

Challenges we ran into

The first challenge we ran into was the sounds that we had to use to scare away animals like dogs, monkeys, boars, pigs, etc.
We prepared a list of sounds that most animals are scared off by learning the habits of animals that cause the most destruction to crops in India.

The second challenge was about playing these sounds randomly where we used programming techniques to make it as random as possible so that these animals do not get used to one particular type of sound and render it useless.

The third challenge was about reducing the cost as our target customers are farmers in India who cannot spend a lot for these machines. So we tried hard to get down the production cost as much as possible and still trying to bring it down further.

The fourth challenge was about animal invasions at night which is why we planned to use a night vison camera and also trained our model with night vision images as well.

The 5th challenge was about the distance these cameras can cover. We came up with a solution of increasing the number of cameras for large farms and integrate it to perform as one single system by using one raspberry pi with multiple cameras and speakers.
