Fandom Fight Frame
Community-sponsored advertising on Farcaster. Put your community’s Fandom in the spotlight with channel donations!
The problem Fandom Fight Frame solves
Problem
- Farcaster channels need ways to monetize that aren’t scenecoins
- Advertisers want humans to engage with their content
- Permissionless advertising is not always aligned with channel members/hosts’ interests and can be seen as irrelevant/spammy by communities
Solution
- Subdivide the community, let members pay to advertise their favorites from categories they already care about, and give community members social status for paying
- Permissionless payment, permissioned ads on Farcaster
Better for
- Advertisers - pinned frame in the channel seen by all
- Community members - ads are about things they care about and will engage with
- Channel owners - no need to moderate frame ads
Product
- Farcaster members pay to advertise for their favorite fandom via a frame
- People can outbid each other
- Price reduces with time
Challenges we ran into
- Frog framework can break unpredictably when building complex frame layouts
- Testing linear falloff math formulas
- Frame caching is hard to manage
