Stablecoin remittances for HK domestic helpers

The problem EZGG solves

We’re building EZGG, a self-custodial crypto wallet that lets Hong Kong domestic helpers convert HKD→USDC→PHP and send remittances at over 50% lower cost via an email-based, gasless interface.

Our customers—400,000+ migrant helpers—currently pay 3–5% fees and wait days; EZGG partners with local on- and off-ramps for instant, scheduled P2P transfers and automatically stakes idle USDC in DeFi to offset FX costs. The “one email = one wallet” UX removes blockchain complexity, making crypto remittance as easy as sending a link.

Long term, we aim to become the global platform for affordable, DeFi-powered remittances and payroll for underbanked users in emerging-market corridors processing tens of billions annually.

Challenges I ran into

The most popular remittance solutions for domestic helpers are sending money via WeChat Pay HK and Western Union today.

  • WeChat Pay HK charges HK$20 per HK$1,000 sent + ~2% FX markup
  • Western Union offers cash-pickup in minutes but charges a SWIFT fee plus an FX spread, resulting in total costs around 3–4% per transfer

We serve Filipino domestic helpers in Hong Kong, only 18% have bank accounts
We leverage our domain expertise in blockchain offering a cheaper, faster remittance option.
