Spending money,a little too many? Dont Worry!

The problem ExpenseTracker solves

The expense tracker project was built to solve a common problem many people face: keeping track of their daily spending. Whether you're a student, freelancer, or just someone trying to be more financially aware, it’s easy to lose track of small expenses that add up over time. This app helps users log their income and expenses, categorize transactions like food, rent, or travel, and view a running balance and summaries—all in one simple interface. With features like search, filtering, and basic analytics, it allows users to better understand their spending habits and make more informed financial decisions.

Challenges I ran into

While building the app using Next.js and PostgreSQL, I ran into a few challenges. One major hurdle was setting up authentication using Clerk. During deployment on Vercel, I encountered build errors because I hadn’t properly configured the required environment variables like the NEXT_PUBLIC_CLERK_PUBLISHABLE_KEY. It took some debugging to realize that these keys are also needed during server-side rendering, not just on the client. Another challenge was learning how to manage environment variables securely. Initially, I accidentally committed my .env file, but I later fixed it by removing it from version control and adding it to .gitignore. Overall, the project taught me a lot
